How to Get Crinkly Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies are enjoyed by many, meaning the recipe is tinkered with frequently. Texture can be the main goal for one of these methods, especially cookies that have a crispy edge and a soft center. You can achieve this texture without melted butter, or other rigorous cookie manipulation.

Cookie dough that is too perfect loses some distinct texture in the process. Try splitting and stacking the dough balls before baking them. After scooping the cookie dough into rounds, refrigerate the dough balls for at least an hour. Once the hour has passed, take each dough ball and rip off the top half. Then flip the top half over and press it into the bottom. You’ll end up with a ball of dough with plenty of little edges and crevices. Continue to bake the dough on a baking sheet according to your recipe. This method might just seem like a stylistic choice, but the texture of the cookie changes drastically. Since the dough is taller and slower to spread, the edges get crisp while the center stays soft.
