COS-S9-6 FAQ

Q: Does my cooktop come with a manufacturer’s warranty? A: Your cooktop includes a 3-year limited manufacturer’s warranty with your new purchase from an authorized retailer. To view a list of authorized retailers, please visit www.cosmoappliances.com/locations.  Q: Where can I find the model and serial number of my unit? A: The model and serial numbers can be found in one of three places: underneath the unit, on the manufacturing sticker on the rear of the unit, or on the cooktop’s box. We recommend writing this information down so you have it for easy reference. Q: Where can I find the warranty terms for this product? A: The warranty terms are available online at www.cosmoappliances.com/warranty. Your unit is covered for parts for 3 years from the date of purchase.  Q: All of my burners are clicking or sparking when I turn any of them on. A: The burners on this unit will spark when you attempt to ignite any of them. This is normal operation and is an intentional side effect of the cooktop’s design. Q: Why is my unit producing black soot when in use? A: The most common cause of black soot being produced when using the cooktop is an improper propane mixture or conversion. Check the propane gas source first, then review the LP conversion instructions.  Q: What are the cutout dimensions for my cooktop? A: The cutout dimensions for your model number are:  MODEL CUTOUT WIDTH CUTOUT LENGTH CUTOUT DEPTH S9-6 35 1/2″ 23 3/4″ 8 3/8″ Q: Can I install my cooktop hard-wired? A: Our cooktops come with a factory-installed 3-prong, grounded plug that must be used with an appropriate 3-wire wall outlet. We do not recommend hard-wiring your cooktop.

COS-S9-6 Electrical Installation Troubleshooting – 120V

Gas range or cooktop No power or low power. Check that the unit is plugged in and the breaker is switched to ON. Check that the voltage is correct for your unit according to the installation manual – 110/120V, 60Hz, and 15 to 20 Amps. Turn the breaker to the OFF position and wait 5 minutes. Turn the breaker back to the ON position and attempt to use the unit again. We advise that electrical installation be performed by a qualified, licensed electrician. If installation was not performed by a licensed professional, contact one as soon as possible to verify that the power is adequate for your unit and has been safely connected.

Calibrate COS-S9-6 Cooktop Burners

Read all instructions carefully before beginning. Light two other burners and turn the control knob to medium. This will ensure the burner’s flame does not extinguish when other burners are turned on. Light the burner needing calibration and turn the control knob to the lowest setting. Remove the control knob. Insert a small, flat-head screwdriver into the adjustment screw or control knob valve stem, and slowly turn the screw until the flame appearance is correct. Open the valve more (counter-clockwise) if the flames are too small or fluttered, or the flame extinguishes entirely. Close the valve more (clockwise) if the flames are too large. Replace the control knob. Test the flame by turning the control from “LO” to “HI,” checking the flame at each setting. Repeat the above steps for each burner.

Adjust COS-S9-6 Regulator for LP Gas

Figure 1-A Figure 1-B Figure 1-C Read all instructions carefully before beginning. NOTE: Your regulator may not match the images exactly, but the procedure will remain the same. Disconnect all electrical power at the main circuit breaker or fuse box. Shut off the gas supply to the unit by closing the manual shut-off valve. Unscrew the cap on the regulator using a wrench as shown in Figure 1-A. Unscrew and remove the retainer pin that is currently positioned for natural gas as shown in Figure 1-B. The position shown in Figure 1-B is the natural setting. If the retainer pin has not yet been flipped, remove the retainer pin and re-insert into the cap as shown in Figure 1-C. Replace the regulator cap and tighten using a wrench. Your regulator is now set up for LP gas.
