COS-965AG Electrical Installation Troubleshooting – 120V

Gas range or cooktop No power or low power. Check that the unit is plugged in and the breaker is switched to ON. Check that the voltage is correct for your unit according to the installation manual – 110/120V, 60Hz, and 15 to 20 Amps. Turn the breaker to the OFF position and wait 5 minutes. Turn the breaker back to the ON position and attempt to use the unit again. We advise that electrical installation be performed by a qualified, licensed electrician. If installation was not performed by a licensed professional, contact one as soon as possible to verify that the power is adequate for your unit and has been safely connected.

COS-965AG Gas Installation Troubleshooting

I smell gas after installing my unit: Immediately quit all usage of the unit. Switch off the gas supply to the unit by turning the manual shut-off valve to the OFF position. Contact your gas supplier to schedule a technician who will perform a leak test and red tag the unit if necessary. For the models COS-965AGC, COS-965AGFC, COS-244AGC, F965, and F965NF: The technician should inspect the rear of the unit where the regulator is installed, and ensure that the pieces are assembled in this order (Parts #1-5 are included with the unit): Main inlet pipe/manifold for the unit Blue fiber gasket Gold adapter piece Blue fiber gasket Gas regulator Any additional adapters and gas lines necessary for your installation Request and save a copy of the technician’s report detailing where any leak(s) is located. Contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis.  No gas flow: Check that the gas shut-off valve is turned to the ON position. Check that the included gas regulator and adapter piece are installed. Check that the arrow on the bottom of the gas regulator is pointing towards the unit. Push the air out of the gas lines. Push in the burner control knob and turn to ignite. Continue to hold the control knob for up to 60 seconds. Repeat until the burner lights or there is a gas smell. Low gas pressure/flow: Confirm that the home’s gas pressure is correct for your unit.  Natural Gas Requirements: Supply Pressure: 6″ to 14″ water column.  Propane Gas Requirements: Supply Pressure: 11″ to 14″ water column. Check that the included gas regulator’s internal retainer pin is in the correct position for the type of gas used (Natural gas or LP gas). See LP Conversion Instructions for reference. Check that the orifice numbers for each burner match the necessary orifice for the type of gas used (Natural gas or LP gas). If using LP gas, check that the LP tank is full and the gas pressure is appropriate for your unit according to the included installation manual. Elevation above 2,500 feet: Additional calibration is required for high elevation gas installation. Contact support for more information.

COS-965AG Gas Cooktop Troubleshooting

Check that the unit has been installed properly: Gas Installation Troubleshooting. Cooktop burner(s) will not light My burner sparks or clicks when turning the knob to ignite. Check for a gas smell when turning the knob. I do not smell gas. There may be air inside the gas line(s) from manufacturing, storage, or shipping.  Repeat the proper lighting procedure several times. If you begin to smell gas, proceed to the next step. I smell gas: Remove the burner and burner cap to inspect the burner ports for any obstructions such as food particles, dried liquids, etc. If debris is found, clean the burner and burner cap with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive cloth. Allow to dry completely before replacing. Add the burner and burner cap back onto the cooktop and ensure they are seated properly. They should wiggle slightly when moved left + right, but should remain in place. Attempt to light the unit manually using a long stem lighter. Check for a visible spark on the igniter electrode next to the burner. Make sure you can see the actual spark coming from the white igniter electrode. If burner(s) still does not light on its own, contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis. My burner does not spark or click when turning the knob to ignite: None of my burners spark or click when turned on: Check that the electrical has been installed properly: Electrical Installation Troubleshooting. Check if the burner sparks only when another knob is turned. Press and hold another knob to actuate the ignition system. While holding the knob on and allowing the igniters to spark, turn the knob for the affected burner as if lighting it normally. If it lights, contact tech support. My burner does not spark even when another knob is pushed and held in. Check that the burner and burner cap are properly seated by removing them from the unit and replacing them. Check for a visible spark on the igniter electrode next to the burner.  If you see a spark on the tip of the electrode, hold the knob in longer to allow ample gas flow to make contact with the spark.  Try lighting the burner with a long stem lighter, and if it does not light, there may not be gas flowing.  If the burner(s) still does not spark properly, contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis. My cooktop burner(s) will light but will not stay lit: Remove the affected burner(s) and cap(s) from the unit. For the models COS-965AGC, COS-965AGFC, COS-244AGC, F965, F965NF, 850SLTX-E, 950SLTX-E, 640STX-E, VA-S950M, COS-965AG, COS-965AGF: Locate the silver and bronze tip extending next to each burner. Using a dry cloth or paper towel, clean the tip to remove any residue that may be present. The residue may not be visible to the human eye. Replace the burner(s) and cap(s) to ensure they are properly seated. Light the burner and hold the knob on to heat up the thermocouple safety device. Continue holding for up to 60 seconds.  Release the knob. The flame should stay on. If the flame still extinguishes on its own, it may need to be calibrated If the burner still does not stay lit after several attempts, contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis. My burners are too high or too low: The burners on your Cosmo cooktop are designed for higher efficiency and may appear higher or lower than other cooktops. Give yourself time to adjust to the new cooktop by cooking on it for at least a week. If food is cooking too quickly, try a lower temperature. If food is cooking too slowly, try a higher temperature. If your food is still cooking too quickly or slowly, even after adjusting the flame height, contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis.
