Check that the unit has been installed properly: Gas Installation Troubleshooting.
Q: Why does it smell like paint or chemicals when I use my oven for the first time? A: This is the result of residue from the manufacturing process burning off. Open all of the windows and doors in the room for proper ventilation and allow the oven to run with nothing inside for at least 45 minutes before the first use. Q: How can I tell when my oven has been preheated to the selected temperature? A: Your Cosmo dual fuel range is equipped with an indicator light above both the oven function and oven temperature knobs. The light will illuminate while the oven is preheating and will turn off once the oven has reached temperature. It will switch on and off throughout the cooking cycle as the internal heating elements cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature. Q: I don’t feel any heat coming from the convection fans when in convection mode. A: Your oven is equipped with two convection fans in the rear of the oven that circulate the heat produced by the top or bottom elements only. They do not have dedicated, circular heating elements. Q: Does my range come with a manufacturer’s warranty? A: This range includes a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty with your new purchase from an authorized retailer. To view a list of authorized retailers, please visit www.cosmoappliances.com/locations. Q: Where can I find the warranty terms for this product? A: The warranty terms are available online at www.cosmoappliances.com/warranty. Your unit is covered for both parts and labor for 1 year from the date of purchase. Q: All of my burners are clicking or sparking when I turn any of them on. A: The burners on this unit will spark when you attempt to ignite any of them. This is normal operation and is an intentional side effect of the cooktop’s design. Q: Why is hot air blowing out from the top of my oven door? A: Your oven is equipped with a cooling fan to better regulate the internal temperature for more precise cooking. There are two vent locations: on top of the oven door, and behind the cooktop. This is intended by design and is normal operation. Q: Why is my unit producing black soot when in use? A: The most common cause of black soot being produced when using either the oven or the cooktop is an improper propane mixture or conversion. Check the propane gas source first, then review the LP conversion instructions. Q: Why does my oven’s fan continue to run with convection mode off or after the oven has been turned off? A: This is normal operation. The cooling fan will remain on during the baking cycle, regardless of the convection function, as well as after the oven has been shut off until it has sufficiently cooled.
Bake and/or Broil will not turn on or are taking too long to heat (more than 25-30 minutes): Check that an oven function has been selected. The oven will not turn on until a function has been selected. Check that the unit is installed on a dedicated breaker and is not sharing its power with any other appliances or electronics in your home. A minimum 220 Volt and 30 Amp breaker is required. If the unit does not meet the qualifications, contact a licensed electrician to correct the power supply. Check that the unit has been installed properly: Electrical Installation Troubleshooting. Make note of the following: Does the oven indicator light turn on? Does the internal oven light turn on? Do the cooktop burners spark and light properly? Do any of the oven burning elements appear physically damaged? Contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis. Bake temperature is off by more than 30 degrees, or broiler struggles to reach MAX temperature: Check that your oven thermometer being used is properly calibrated. If necessary, purchase a new thermometer. Check that your personal oven thermometer is placed in the center of the oven, and that the oven has been given sufficient time to preheat, typically 10-20 minutes. Preheat time depends on environmental conditions and whether the oven is empty during preheating. Wait for the oven to cool completely to prevent burns or other injuries. Next, locate the thermostat probe in the top or rear of the oven cavity, which looks similar to this. If the thermostat probe is dislodged or crooked, attempt to reconnect it to the mounting clip(s). Confirm that any extra foil, materials, pots, pans, etc. are removed except for the ones currently in use for cooking. Check that the air vents on top of the range, behind the cooktop are free of any blockages. Contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis.
Read all instructions carefully before beginning. Light two other burners and turn the control knob to medium. This will ensure the burner’s flame does not extinguish when other burners are turned on. Light the burner needing calibration and turn the control knob to the lowest setting. Remove the control knob. Insert a small, flat-head screwdriver into the adjustment screw or control knob valve stem, and slowly turn the screw until the flame appearance is correct. Open the valve more (counter-clockwise) if the flames are too small or fluttered, or the flame extinguishes entirely. Close the valve more (clockwise) if the flames are too large. Replace the control knob. Test the flame by turning the control from “LO” to “HI,” checking the flame at each setting. Repeat the above steps for each burner.
Figure 1-A Figure 1-B Figure 1-C Read all instructions carefully before beginning. NOTE: Your regulator may not match the images exactly, but the procedure will remain the same. Disconnect all electrical power at the main circuit breaker or fuse box. Shut off the gas supply to the unit by closing the manual shut-off valve. Unscrew the cap on the regulator using a wrench as shown in Figure 1-A. Unscrew and remove the retainer pin that is currently positioned for natural gas as shown in Figure 1-B. The position shown in Figure 1-B is the natural setting. If the retainer pin has not yet been flipped, remove the retainer pin and re-insert into the cap as shown in Figure 1-C. Replace the regulator cap and tighten using a wrench. Your regulator is now set up for LP gas.
