COS-DFR486G Electric Oven Troubleshooting

  1. Bake and/or Broil will not turn on or are taking too long to heat (more than 25-30 minutes):
    1. Check that an oven function has been selected. The oven will not turn on until a function has been selected.
    2. Check that the unit is installed on a dedicated breaker and is not sharing its power with any other appliances or electronics in your home. A minimum 220 Volt and 30 Amp breaker is required. If the unit does not meet the qualifications, contact a licensed electrician to correct the power supply.
    3. Check that the unit has been installed properly: Electrical Installation Troubleshooting.
    4. Make note of the following:
      1. Does the oven indicator light turn on?
      2. Does the internal oven light turn on?
      3. Do the cooktop burners spark and light properly?
      4. Do any of the oven burning elements appear physically damaged?
    5. Contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis.
  2. Bake temperature is off by more than 30 degrees, or broiler struggles to reach MAX temperature:
    1. Check that your oven thermometer being used is properly calibrated. If necessary, purchase a new thermometer.
    2. Check that your personal oven thermometer is placed in the center of the oven, and that the oven has been given sufficient time to preheat, typically 10-20 minutes. Preheat time depends on environmental conditions and whether the oven is empty during preheating.
    3. Wait for the oven to cool completely to prevent burns or other injuries. Next, locate the thermostat probe in the top or rear of the oven cavity, which looks similar to this. If the thermostat probe is dislodged or crooked, attempt to reconnect it to the mounting clip(s).
    4. Confirm that any extra foil, materials, pots, pans, etc. are removed except for the ones currently in use for cooking.
    5. Check that the air vents on top of the range, behind the cooktop are free of any blockages.
    6. Contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis.
