COS-F965 FAQ

Q: Why does it smell like paint or chemicals when I use my oven for the first time? A: This is the result of residue from the manufacturing process burning off. Open all of the windows and doors in the room for proper ventilation and allow the oven to run with nothing inside for at least 45 minutes before the first use. Q: How can I tell when my oven has been preheated to the selected temperature? A: Your Cosmo dual fuel range is equipped with an indicator light above both the oven function and oven temperature knobs. The light will illuminate while the oven is preheating and will turn off once the oven has reached temperature. It will switch on and off throughout the cooking cycle as the internal heating elements cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.  Q: How do I set the clock on my range? A: The clock can only be set when the unit has been powered on for the first time, or power has been reset. The clock will blink and show “12:00” and a bar will be displayed above the clock icon. Press the left and right buttons below the display until the correct time is displayed. After 5 seconds, the clock will start automatically, or you can press the center button to confirm.  Q: How do I set the timer on my range? A: The digital countdown timer can be set up to 12 hours and 59 minutes. To set the timer, press the center function button repeatedly until the bar above the first icon (bell) is displayed. Press the left and right buttons below the display until the desired time is displayed. After several seconds of no interaction, the timer will start. Q: How do I set a cook timer on my range? A: The digital countdown timer can be set up to 12 hours and 59 minutes. To set the timer, press the center function button repeatedly until the bar above the third icon (crossed-out dish) is displayed. Press the left and right buttons below the display until the desired cook time is displayed. Select the oven function and temperature. The oven will automatically turn off when the timer ends. Q: Does my range come with a manufacturer’s warranty? A: This range includes a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty with your new purchase from an authorized retailer. To view a list of authorized retailers, please visit www.cosmoappliances.com/locations.  Q: Where can I find the warranty terms for this product? A: The warranty terms are available online at www.cosmoappliances.com/warranty. Your unit is covered for both parts and labor for 1 year from the date of purchase.  Q: All of my burners are clicking or sparking when I turn any of them on. A: The burners on this unit will spark when you attempt to ignite any of them. This is normal operation and is an intentional side effect of the cooktop’s design. Q: Why is hot air blowing out from the top of my oven door? A: Your oven is equipped with a cooling fan to better regulate the internal temperature for more precise cooking. There are two vent locations: on top of the oven door, and behind the cooktop. This is intended by design and is normal operation. Q: Why does my oven’s fan continue to run with convection mode off or after the oven has been turned off? A: This is normal operation. The cooling fan will remain on during the baking cycle, regardless of the convection function, as well as after the oven has been shut off until it has sufficiently cooled. Q: Why is my unit producing black soot when in use? A: The most common cause of black soot being produced when using either the oven or the cooktop is an improper propane mixture or conversion. Check the propane gas source first, then review the LP conversion instructions.

Calibrate COS-F965 Cooktop Burners

Read all instructions carefully before beginning. Light two other burners and turn the control knob to medium. This will ensure the burner’s flame does not extinguish when other burners are turned on. Light the burner needing calibration and turn the control knob to the lowest setting. Remove the control knob. Insert a small, flat-head screwdriver into the adjustment screw or control knob valve stem, and slowly turn the screw until the flame appearance is correct. Open the valve more (counter-clockwise) if the flames are too small or fluttered, or the flame extinguishes entirely. Close the valve more (clockwise) if the flames are too large. Replace the control knob. Test the flame by turning the control from “LO” to “HI,” checking the flame at each setting. Repeat the above steps for each burner.

Adjust COS-F965 Regulator for LP Gas

Figure 1-A Figure 1-B Figure 1-C Read all instructions carefully before beginning. NOTE: Your regulator may not match the images exactly, but the procedure will remain the same. Disconnect all electrical power at the main circuit breaker or fuse box. Shut off the gas supply to the unit by closing the manual shut-off valve. Unscrew the cap on the regulator using a wrench as shown in Figure 1-A. Unscrew and remove the retainer pin that is currently positioned for natural gas as shown in Figure 1-B. The position shown in Figure 1-B is the natural setting. If the retainer pin has not yet been flipped, remove the retainer pin and re-insert into the cap as shown in Figure 1-C. Replace the regulator cap and tighten using a wrench. Your regulator is now set up for LP gas.

COS-305AERC Cleaning

IMPORTANT: Before starting to clean, make sure all controls are turned to the OFF position and both the oven and cooktop have completely cooled. Always follow label instructions on cleaning products.  Soap, water and a soft cloth or sponge are suggested first unless otherwise noted. Do not use abrasive cleaning products. Exterior Porcelain Enamel Surfaces Food spills containing acids, such as vinegar, tomato juice/sauce, citrus juice, etc. should be cleaned as soon as the entire appliance has cooled. These spills may permanently affect the finish. Cleaning Method: Use glass cleaner, mild liquid cleaner, or non-abrasive scrubbing pad. Gently clean around the model and serial number plate as scrubbing may remove the labeling. Exterior Stainless Steel Do not use soap-filled scouring pads, abrasive cleaners, Cooktop Polishing Cream, steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths or rough paper towels. Damage may occur, even after a single use. Rub in the direction of the grain to avoid damaging the surface. Cleaning Methods: Liquid detergent or all-purpose cleaner: Rinse well with clean water and dry with soft, lint-free cloth. Use stainless steel cleaner/polish to restore the sheen and protective layer of the stainless steel. Use distilled white vinegar for hard water spots. Oven Door Exterior Cleaning Method: Use a glass cleaner with a paper towel or a nonabrasive plastic scrubbing pad. Apply glass cleaner to the cloth or sponge, and not directly on the panel. Porcelain-Coated Grates and Caps Clean as soon as the cooktop, grates and caps have cooled. Food spills containing acids, such as vinegar, tomato juice/sauce, citrus juice, etc. should be cleaned as soon as the entire appliance has cooled. These spills may permanently affect the finish. To avoid chipping, do not bang grates and caps against each other or hard surfaces such as cast iron cookware. Never reassemble the black caps on burners while wet. Always allow both to dry completely before reassembling.  Cleaning Method: Use a non-abrasive, plastic scrubbing pad with a mildly abrasive cleanser. Burner Spreader Wash the burner spreader frequently with boiling water and detergent to remove any deposits which may block the flame outlet. Before reinstalling, dry the burner spreader thoroughly so the burner will ignite properly. Control Knobs When removing knobs, make sure knobs are in the OFF position. Pull knobs straight away from the control panel to remove. Cleaning Method: Use a mild soap and water mix or place in the dishwasher. Do not use steel wool, abrasive cleansers or oven cleaner. Never submerge knobs in any liquid. Control Panel Cleaning Method: Use a glass cleaner and soft cloth or sponge. Apply glass cleaner to soft cloth or sponge, never directly to the panel. Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths or some paper towels. Damage may occur even after a single use. Oven Cavity Food spills should be cleaned as soon as the oven has cooled. At high temperatures, foods may react with porcelain or enamel surfaces. Staining, etching, pitting or faint white spots can result. Cleaning Method: Never use oven cleaners. Use a mild detergent and warm water with a soft cloth or sponge. Oven Racks and Roasting Racks Cleaning Method: Use of a steel-wool pad is permitted and encouraged. Broiler Pan Cleaning Method: Use a mildly abrasive cleanser and scrub with a wet scouring pad. Mix a solution of ½ cup (125 mL) ammonia to 1 gal. (3.75 L) water. Soak for 20 minutes, and then scrub with a scouring or steel-wool pad. Oven cleaner: Follow the cleaner product’s label instructions. Porcelain enamel only, not chrome. Place the pan in the dishwasher.

COS-305AERC FAQ

Q: Why does it smell like paint or chemicals when I use my oven for the first time? A: This is the result of residue from the manufacturing process burning off. Open all of the windows and doors in the room for proper ventilation and allow the oven to run with nothing inside for at least 45 minutes before the first use. Q: Why is the cooktop showing as ON even though it has been turned OFF? A: For your safety, the hot surface indicator lights will remain on as long as the cooktop is hot to the touch. Once the cooktop has sufficiently cooled, the indicator lights will turn off automatically. Q: Can I use the warming zone element to reheat food? A: The warming zone element should only be used to keep hot food warm for up to an hour. It should not be used to reheat cold food to prevent food-borne illness.  Q: What type of cookware is recommended for my glass top? A: Use flat-bottomed cookware for best heat conduction and energy efficiency. Cookware with rounded, warped, ribbed or dented bottoms may cause uneven heating and poor cooking results. Determine flatness by placing the straight edge of a ruler across the bottom of the cookware. While you rotate the ruler, no space or light should be visible between it and the cookware. Cookware designed with slightly indented bottoms or small expansion channels may be used. Q: Why is the cooktop indicator light still illuminated even though all burners have been switched off? A: The indicator light will remain on until all of the burners have sufficiently cooled. Q: Why are the heating elements not fully red and certain sections darker? A: This is normal for your cooktop and it is operating correctly. The heating element consists of several elements that will glow during operation. There are no heating elements where the electrical connection and the cable duct are routed. The glow pattern remains dark at these points. Q: Why do the heating elements show different levels of brightness? A: Differences in brightness are due to technical reasons and are normal. The heating elements are operating correctly. Q: Where can I find the model and serial number of my unit? A: The model and serial numbers can be found on the inside of the oven door jamb, on the manufacturing sticker.  ESWC-Style Oven FAQ
