BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches

BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches are a quintessential American dish that’s perfect for any occasion – from a weekend barbecue to a casual weeknight dinner. Slow-cooked, tender pulled pork is smothered in a rich and flavorful BBQ sauce and served on a soft, toasted bun. This classic dish is easy to make and sure to be a hit with everyone at the table.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs. pork shoulder, trimmed of excess fat
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 8 buns, toasted

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the pork shoulder and sear on all sides until browned, about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Add the onion and garlic to the pot and sauté for 2-3 minutes or until the onion is soft.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  5. Pour the sauce over the pork and onions, making sure to coat everything evenly.
  6. Cover the pot with a lid and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  7. Shred the pork using two forks and mix with the sauce until well coated.
  8. Serve the pulled pork on toasted buns.
