Chicken Fuchka Recipe
Chicken Fuchka Recipe also known as Puchka or Golgappa in other regions, is a popular street snack. These crispy, hollow spheres are filled with a spicy and tangy mixture of seasoned chicken, potatoes, onions, and tamarind chutney, creating an explosion of flavors in every bite.
Ingredients:
For the Fuchka Shells:
- Semolina (sooji): 1 cup
- All-purpose flour: 1 cup
- Baking powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Water: As needed
For the Chicken Filling:
- Boneless chicken, cooked and shredded: 1 cup
- Potatoes, boiled and mashed: 1/2 cup
- Onion, finely chopped: 1/4 cup
- Green chili, finely chopped: 1 tablespoon
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped: 2 tablespoons
- Tamarind chutney: 1/4 cup
- Chaat masala: 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
For Serving:
- Tamarind chutney
- Chopped fresh coriander leaves
- Finely chopped onions
Instructions:
- To make the Fuchka shells, combine semolina, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Gradually add water to form a stiff dough. Cover and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into thin circles.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the rolled-out dough circles until they puff up and turn golden brown. Remove and drain excess oil on paper towels. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chili, coriander leaves, tamarind chutney, chaat masala, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to combine.
- To assemble the Chicken Fuchka, gently break a hole in the top of each fried dough shell to create a cavity.
- Fill each cavity with a spoonful of the chicken filling mixture.
- Drizzle additional tamarind chutney on top and garnish with chopped coriander leaves and onions.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the spicy and flavorful Chicken Fuchka as a delicious street food snack!
