Pizza Fritta Recipe
Pizza Fritta, or fried pizza, is a classic street food that boasts a crispy exterior and a deliciously cheesy interior. In this recipe, pizza dough is filled with your favorite pizza toppings, folded, and fried to golden perfection.
Ingredients:
- Pizza dough, homemade or store-bought
- Pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Pepperoni slices (or your favorite pizza toppings)
- Olive oil for frying
Instructions:
- Roll out the pizza dough into small circles, about 6 inches in diameter.
- Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on half of each dough circle, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by pepperoni slices or your favorite pizza toppings.
- Fold the dough over the toppings to create a half-moon shape, and press the edges firmly to seal.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
- Carefully place the filled pizza dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the Pizza Fritta from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve the hot and crispy Italian Pizza Fritta immediately, either as a whole or sliced into wedges, with additional pizza sauce for dipping.
