Pizza Fritta Recipe

Pizza Fritta, or fried pizza, is a classic street food that boasts a crispy exterior and a deliciously cheesy interior. In this recipe, pizza dough is filled with your favorite pizza toppings, folded, and fried to golden perfection.


  • Pizza dough, homemade or store-bought
  • Pizza sauce
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Pepperoni slices (or your favorite pizza toppings)
  • Olive oil for frying


  1. Roll out the pizza dough into small circles, about 6 inches in diameter.
  2. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on half of each dough circle, leaving a small border around the edges.
  3. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by pepperoni slices or your favorite pizza toppings.
  4. Fold the dough over the toppings to create a half-moon shape, and press the edges firmly to seal.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Carefully place the filled pizza dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Remove the Pizza Fritta from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. Serve the hot and crispy Italian Pizza Fritta immediately, either as a whole or sliced into wedges, with additional pizza sauce for dipping.
