Choripan Recipe
Choripan a mouthwatering street food classic that combines savory grilled chorizo with crusty bread and tangy chimichurri sauce. Popular at outdoor gatherings, festivals, and soccer matches.
Ingredients:
- 4 Argentine chorizo sausages
- 4 crusty bread rolls
- 1 cup chimichurri sauce (see recipe below)
- Olive oil, for grilling
Chimichurri Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- In a small bowl, mix together the ingredients for the chimichurri sauce: parsley, garlic, red wine vinegar, olive oil, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Brush the chorizo sausages with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Grill the chorizo sausages for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and charred on the outside.
- While the sausages are grilling, slice the crusty bread rolls in half lengthwise.
- Once the sausages are cooked, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
- To assemble the Choripan, place a grilled chorizo sausage in each bread roll and generously spoon chimichurri sauce over the top.
- Serve the Choripan immediately, with extra chimichurri sauce on the side for dipping.
