Choripan Recipe

Choripan a mouthwatering street food classic that combines savory grilled chorizo with crusty bread and tangy chimichurri sauce. Popular at outdoor gatherings, festivals, and soccer matches.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Argentine chorizo sausages
  • 4 crusty bread rolls
  • 1 cup chimichurri sauce (see recipe below)
  • Olive oil, for grilling

Chimichurri Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the ingredients for the chimichurri sauce: parsley, garlic, red wine vinegar, olive oil, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
  3. Brush the chorizo sausages with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the chorizo sausages for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and charred on the outside.
  5. While the sausages are grilling, slice the crusty bread rolls in half lengthwise.
  6. Once the sausages are cooked, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
  7. To assemble the Choripan, place a grilled chorizo sausage in each bread roll and generously spoon chimichurri sauce over the top.
  8. Serve the Choripan immediately, with extra chimichurri sauce on the side for dipping.
