For the curry ketchup:
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
For the bratwurst:
  • 4 bratwurst sausages
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
For serving:
  • French fries or a bread roll

  1. In a saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  2. Stir in the curry powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper, cooking for about a minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the ketchup, water, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar to the saucepan. Mix well to combine.
  4. Let the curry ketchup simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld and the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. While the curry ketchup is simmering, prepare the bratwurst sausages. In a separate pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the bratwurst sausages and cook until browned and cooked through, turning occasionally. This should take around 10-12 minutes.
  6. Once the sausages are cooked, slice them into bite-sized pieces.
  7. To serve, drizzle the curry ketchup over the sliced bratwurst sausages. Pair with a side of French fries or a fresh bread roll for a complete Currywurst experience.
