Minnesota Hotdish Recipe

Minnesota Hotdish Recipe combines hearty ingredients like ground beef, tender vegetables, and creamy mushroom soup, all baked to golden perfection under a layer of crispy tater tots.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (such as peas, carrots, and corn)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups frozen tater tots
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned and no longer pink. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the cooked ground beef. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in the mixed vegetables, condensed cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and black pepper, to taste. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are tender and the mixture is heated through.
  5. Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the beef and vegetable mixture, covering the entire surface.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  8. Remove the hotdish from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  9. Return the hotdish to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Serve the Minnesota Hotdish hot and enjoy the comforting flavors of the Midwest!
