Thai Pad Kra Pao Recipe

Thai cuisine is a delightful blend of bold flavors, spices, and textures that never fail to excite the taste buds. One of the classic dishes that embody the essence of Thai cuisine is Pad Kra Pao. This savory and spicy stir-fry dish is made with minced meat, basil leaves, and a variety of aromatic herbs and spices. The dish is quick and easy to make, yet it’s packed with flavor and is sure to satisfy your cravings.


  • 500g minced meat (pork, chicken or beef)
  • 2 cups Thai basil leaves, roughly chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4-6 Thai chilies, sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar


  1. Heat up a wok or a large frying pan over high heat.
  2. Add a tablespoon of oil and swirl it around to coat the pan.
  3. Add garlic and chilies and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add minced meat and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until cooked.
  5. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar, and stir well.
  6. Add the basil leaves and stir-fry for another minute until the leaves have wilted.
