Beef Lok Lak Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato, sliced into wedges
  • Lettuce leaves, for serving
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for serving
For the Dipping Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and minced garlic. Mix well to create the marinade.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the marinade and toss until the beef is evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the marinated beef to the pan and stir-fry for a few minutes until the beef is cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
  5. In the same pan, add the thinly sliced onion and cook until it turns translucent and slightly caramelized.
  6. Return the cooked beef to the pan and toss it with the onions to combine the flavors.
  7. Add the tomato wedges to the pan and stir-fry for a minute or two until the tomatoes soften slightly.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper to create the dipping sauce.
  9. Arrange lettuce leaves on a serving platter and place the beef and tomato mixture on top.
  10. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve the Beef Lok Lak alongside the dipping sauce and lime wedges.
  11. To enjoy, wrap a portion of the beef and tomato mixture in a lettuce leaf, drizzle with the dipping sauce, and squeeze fresh lime juice for an explosion of flavors.
