Cambodian Beef Lok Lak

Ingredients:
- 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced into thin strips
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 head of lettuce, washed and separated into leaves
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
Lime Dipping Sauce:
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 small chili pepper, minced (optional)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and minced garlic. Add the beef strips and mix well. Marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until softened and lightly browned.
- Add the marinated beef strips to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through.
- Arrange the lettuce leaves, sliced cucumber, and tomatoes on a platter.
- To make the lime dipping sauce, combine lime juice, water, fish sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and minced chili pepper (if using) in a small bowl. Stir well to combine.
- Serve the cooked beef strips on top of the lettuce leaves and garnish with the sautéed onions. Serve with the lime dipping sauce on the side.
