Hearty and Savory Sausage and Lentil Stew Recipe

  • 1 lb ground sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups green or brown lentils, rinsed
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste


  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbled.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Add the rinsed lentils, chicken broth, diced tomatoes (with juice), chopped carrots, chopped celery, and dried thyme to the pot.
