Miso Soup Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups dashi stock (Japanese soup stock)
  • 3 tablespoons miso paste (white or red)
  • 1/2 cup soft tofu, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons dried wakame seaweed
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine) (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, bring the dashi stock to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Place the miso paste in a small bowl and add a ladleful of the simmering dashi stock. Stir well until the miso paste is fully dissolved.
  3. Pour the dissolved miso paste back into the saucepan and stir gently to combine.
  4. Add the cubed tofu and dried wakame seaweed to the simmering soup.
  5. Allow the soup to cook for a few more minutes until the tofu is heated through and the seaweed has rehydrated.
  6. If desired, add soy sauce and mirin to enhance the depth of flavors. Adjust the amounts to suit your taste.
  7. Remove the soup from heat and ladle it into individual bowls.
  8. Garnish each bowl with thinly sliced green onions.
