Pierogi with Potato and Cheese Filling Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Ground Beef:
    1. In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and garlic, sauté until softened. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  2. Add Vegetables:
    1. Stir in grated carrot and chopped celery. Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Tomato Base:
    1. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, and dried basil to the pan. Mix well.
  4. Beef Broth:
    1. Pour in the beef broth, season with salt and pepper, and let it simmer on low heat. Allow the flavors to meld for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Cook Spaghetti:
    1. In a separate pot, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  6. Combine and Serve:
    1. Add the cooked spaghetti to the Bolognese sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the spaghetti is well-coated.
  7. Garnish and Enjoy:
    1. Serve the Classic Spaghetti Bolognese hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
