Savory Beef and Mushroom Gravy Recipe

  • 1 lb beef chuck roast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil


  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the beef and brown on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Add the mushrooms, onions, and garlic to the same skillet and cook until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Add the flour to the skillet and stir to coat the vegetables.
  5. Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  6. Add the thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet and stir well.
  7. Add the beef back into the skillet and bring the mixture to a boil.
  8. Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for 30 minutes or until the beef is tender.
  9. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.
