Spicy Chili Con Carne

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Shredded cheese, chopped cilantro, and sour cream for serving


  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and bell peppers to the pot and cook for 5-7 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Add the jalapeño peppers, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 20-30 minutes or until the chili has thickened and the flavors have melded together.
  5. Serve the chili hot with shredded cheese, chopped cilantro, and sour cream on top.
