Swiss Cheese Fondue

  • 1 clove garlic, halved
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 pound Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 1/2 pound Emmental cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 loaf crusty bread, cubed
  • Apples, broccoli, and cauliflower florets for dipping
