COS-305AERC Cleaning

  1. IMPORTANT: Before starting to clean, make sure all controls are turned to the OFF position and both the oven and cooktop have completely cooled. Always follow label instructions on cleaning products.
  2. Soap, water and a soft cloth or sponge are suggested first unless otherwise noted. Do not use abrasive cleaning products.
  3. Exterior Porcelain Enamel Surfaces
    1. Food spills containing acids, such as vinegar, tomato juice/sauce, citrus juice, etc. should be cleaned as soon as the entire appliance has cooled. These spills may permanently affect the finish.
    2. Cleaning Method:
      1. Use glass cleaner, mild liquid cleaner, or non-abrasive scrubbing pad. Gently clean around the model and serial number plate as scrubbing may remove the labeling.
  4. Exterior Stainless Steel
    1. Do not use soap-filled scouring pads, abrasive cleaners, Cooktop Polishing Cream, steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths or rough paper towels. Damage may occur, even after a single use.
    2. Rub in the direction of the grain to avoid damaging the surface.
    3. Cleaning Methods:
      1. Liquid detergent or all-purpose cleaner: Rinse well with clean water and dry with soft, lint-free cloth.
      2. Use stainless steel cleaner/polish to restore the sheen and protective layer of the stainless steel.
      3. Use distilled white vinegar for hard water spots.
  5. Oven Door Exterior
    1. Cleaning Method:
      1. Use a glass cleaner with a paper towel or a nonabrasive plastic scrubbing pad. Apply glass cleaner to the cloth or sponge, and not directly on the panel.
  6. Porcelain-Coated Grates and Caps
    1. Clean as soon as the cooktop, grates and caps have cooled.
    2. Food spills containing acids, such as vinegar, tomato juice/sauce, citrus juice, etc. should be cleaned as soon as the entire appliance has cooled. These spills may permanently affect the finish.
    3. To avoid chipping, do not bang grates and caps against each other or hard surfaces such as cast iron cookware.
    4. Never reassemble the black caps on burners while wet. Always allow both to dry completely before reassembling.
    5. Cleaning Method:
      1. Use a non-abrasive, plastic scrubbing pad with a mildly abrasive cleanser.
  7. Burner Spreader
    1. Wash the burner spreader frequently with boiling water and detergent to remove any deposits which may block the flame outlet.
    2. Before reinstalling, dry the burner spreader thoroughly so the burner will ignite properly.
  8. Control Knobs
    1. When removing knobs, make sure knobs are in the OFF position.
    2. Pull knobs straight away from the control panel to remove.
    3. Cleaning Method:
      1. Use a mild soap and water mix or place in the dishwasher.
      2. Do not use steel wool, abrasive cleansers or oven cleaner. Never submerge knobs in any liquid.
  9. Control Panel
    1. Cleaning Method:
      1. Use a glass cleaner and soft cloth or sponge. Apply glass cleaner to soft cloth or sponge, never directly to the panel.
      2. Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths or some paper towels. Damage may occur even after a single use.
  10. Oven Cavity
    1. Food spills should be cleaned as soon as the oven has cooled. At high temperatures, foods may react with porcelain or enamel surfaces. Staining, etching, pitting or faint white spots can result.
    2. Cleaning Method:
      1. Never use oven cleaners.
      2. Use a mild detergent and warm water with a soft cloth or sponge.

      1. Use a mildly abrasive cleanser and scrub with a wet scouring pad.
      2. Mix a solution of ½ cup (125 mL) ammonia to 1 gal. (3.75 L) water. Soak for 20 minutes, and then scrub with a scouring or steel-wool pad.
      3. Oven cleaner: Follow the cleaner product’s label instructions. Porcelain enamel only, not chrome.
