COS-EPGR366 Gas Oven Troubleshooting

  1. Bake and/or Broil will not light
    1. Check that the proper lighting procedure is being used.
      1. Push in the control knob and turn it to 400 F.
      2. Hold the knob down for 15-20 seconds while the flame lights. 
      3. Release the knob and the flame should remain on.
    2. My oven does not spark or click when following the lighting procedure:
      1. Check that the cooktop burners spark or click during the lighting procedure.
      2. Check that the unit has been installed properly: Electrical Installation Troubleshooting.
      3. If the oven still does not spark or click, contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis.
    3. My oven sparks or clicks when following the lighting procedure:
      1. I do not smell gas:
        1. Check that the unit has been installed properly: Gas Installation Troubleshooting.
        2. Check that the gas shut-off valve behind the unit has been turned to the ON position.
        3. If a new installation, there may be air trapped in the gas line.
          1. Repeat the proper lighting procedure several times.
          2. If you begin to smell gas, proceed to the next step.
      2.  I smell gas:
        1. If using LP gas:
          1. Check that the unit has been properly converted to LP gas by a qualified technician using the appropriate LP conversion kit. 
        2. Contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis.
  2. Bake and/or Broil will light but will not stay lit
    1. If using LP gas:
      1. Check that the unit has been properly converted to LP gas by a qualified technician using the appropriate LP conversion kit.
    2. Make note of the point at which the oven shuts off:
      1. My oven flame turns off immediately (within 5-10 seconds) after it lights.
      2. My oven flame turns off well after it lights, but before reaching the set temperature.
      3. My oven flame turns off soon after reaching the set temperature.
  3. Bake temperature is off by more than 30 degrees:
    1. I am using LP gas:
      1. Check that the unit has been properly converted to LP gas by a qualified technician using the appropriate LP conversion kit.
    2. Check that the thermometer being used is properly calibrated. If necessary, purchase a new thermometer.
    3. Check that your personal oven thermometer is placed in the center of the oven, and that the oven has been given sufficient time to preheat, typically 10-20 minutes. 
      1. Note: At high altitudes (beginning around 2500 feet above sea level), it will take significantly longer to preheat the oven due to the lower gas pressure. 
      2. For meat or poultry, we recommend cooking up to 25% longer than the recipe calls for. For leavening products such as yeast, we recommend increasing the temperature by 15-20 degrees and decreasing the baking time.

    4. Wait for the oven to cool completely to prevent burns or other injuries. Next, locate the thermostat probe in the top or rear of the oven cavity, which looks similar to this. If the thermostat probe is dislodged or crooked, attempt to reconnect it to the mounting clip(s).
    5. If the oven temperature is still off by more than 30 degrees in either direction, contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis.
  4. Broil stays lit but struggles to reach MAX temperature:
    1. I am using LP gas:
      1. Check that the unit has been properly converted to LP gas by a qualified technician using the appropriate LP conversion kit.
    2. Allow enough time for the broiler to preheat. The broiler can take up to 30-35 minutes to reach 400-450 degrees Fahrenheit. 
    3. If you are experiencing undercooked or incomplete dishes, make sure the food being broiled is on the highest rack position possible. The temperature will drop significantly at each rack level and lower racks may not broil your food properly.
    4. Contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis.
