COS-DIS6502 Troubleshooting

  1. The dishwasher won’t start.
  2. The door may not be closed properly. 
    1. Check that the door is closed and latched fully.
  3. The power is off or not connected.
    1. Check that the power source has been connected properly and turned on.
  4. The delay start option is selected.
    1. Refer to the “Delay” section under “Controls and indicators” on page 8.
  5. The child lock is activated. Deactivate the child lock. 
    1. Refer to the “Child lock” section under “Options” on page 9
  6. The dishwasher beeps at the end of the cycle.
    1. This is normal and indicates that the wash cycle is complete.
  7. The rinse aid light is on. 
    1. The rinse aid level is low. Add rinse aid.
  8. The dishwasher runs too long
    1. The dishwasher is connected to a cold water supply.
      1. Make sure that the dishwasher is connected to a hot water supply. If not, change the water supply to a hot water source.
    2. The cycle time varies depending on the soil level of the dishes. When heavy soil is detected, the wash times will be longer.
    3. Depends on the option selected. Some options will add time to the cycle.
  9. The dishes are not clean enough
    1. The water pressure is too low. 
      1. Make sure that the water pressure is above 20 psi (138 kPa). 
      2. Use your dishwasher when water demand is low.
    2. The inlet water temperature is too low. 
      1. Make sure that the dishwasher is connected to a hot water supply. 
      2. If not, change the water supply to a hot water source. 
      3. Use your dishwasher when hot water demand is low.
    3. Dishes are too close together. 
      1. Reload the dishwasher as shown in “Preparing and loading dishes” on page 9.
    4. Improper use of detergent. 
      1. Add detergent depending on the water hardness and washing cycle you choose. 
      2. Use fresh detergent.
    5. The selected cycle is not suitable for the soil level on the dishes. 
      1. Choose a different cycle with a longer washing time.
    6. The spray arms are blocked. 
      1. Make sure that the spray arms are not blocked and are free to rotate.
  10. The dishes are not dry enough.
    1. The rinse aid dispenser is empty or the setting is too low. 
      1. Fill the rinse aid dispenser or increase the rinse aid setting.
    2. Dishes are loaded improperly. 
      1. Reload the dishwasher as shown in “Preparing and loading dishes” on page 9 of the user’s manual.
    3. The cycle you chose did not include drying. 
      1. Choose a cycle that includes drying.
  11. There are spots and/or film on the dishes.
    1. Water hardness is too high (i.e. water contains too many dissolved minerals). 
      1. For extremely hard water, install a water softener.
    2. Dishes are loaded improperly. 
      1. Reload the dishwasher as shown in “Preparing and loading dishes” on page 9 of the user’s manual.
    3. Old or damp rinse aid powder is being used. 
      1. We recommend using fresh, liquid rinse aid for better performance.
    4. The rinse aid dispenser is empty and/or the setting is too low. 
      1. Fill the rinse aid dispenser and/or increase the rinse aid setting.
  12. There is etching present on the dishes.
    1. There is too much detergent being used. 
      1. Use less detergent if you have soft water.
    2. The inlet water temperature exceeds 150° F (65.6° C). 
      1. Lower the inlet water temperature.
  13. Some detergent is leftover in the detergent cup.
    1. Detergent may be too old. 
      1. Use fresh detergent.
    2. The spray arm is blocked. 
      1. When you load the dishes, make sure that the spray arms are not blocked.
  14. The detergent dispenser will not close.
    1. Improper operation of the detergent cover. 
      1. Add detergent and rinse aid only as indicated in the user’s manual. See “Filling the detergent dispenser” and “Filling the rinse aid dispenser” on page 11.
  15. Water remains in the dishwasher.
    1. The previous cycle has not finished or has been interrupted. 
      1. Make sure that the current cycle is finished.
  16. The dishwasher does not drain properly.
    1. The drain is clogged. 
      1. Check the air gap (if so equipped). 
      2. Make sure that the garbage disposal is empty (if so connected).
    2. The drain hose is kinked. 
      1. Make sure that the drain hose is not kinked and is properly connected.
  17. Suds in the tub.
    1. Improper detergent is being used.
      1. Make sure to use only automatic dishwasher detergent.
  18. The dishwasher leaks.
    1. Excessive suds caused by using improper detergent.
      1. Make sure to use only automatic dishwasher detergent.
    2. The dishwasher is not level. 
      1. Level the dishwasher (refer to the Installation Manual).
  19. There are black or gray marks on the dishes.
    1. Aluminum utensils have rubbed against the dishes.
      1. Make sure that the water inlet temperature is not less than 120° F (49° C).
  20. The interior of the tub is stained.
    1. Coffee or tea stains. 
      1. Use a spot cleaner to remove the stains.
    2. Reddish stain. 
      1. Some tomato products may cause this. 
      2. Rinse your dishes before loading to help prevent this.
  21. Noises.
    1. Detergent cup opening/drain pump.
      1. This is normal.
    2. A hard object has entered the wash module. When the object is ground up the noise will stop.
    3. If the noise continues after the cycle is complete, contact support or a qualified technician for further troubleshooting and diagnosis.
  22. The dishwasher won’t fill (the dishwasher will beep).
    1. The water valve is turned off. 
      1. Turn on the water valve.
    2. The door may not be closed completely. 
      1. Make sure that the door is closed and latched.
